Cops Issued Citations

After rumors about cops showing up around 10pm Tuesday night, we stuck it out as a group late into the night.

The next day, my friend Carmalene reported that 15 cop cars and vans showed up around 5am Wednesday, October 5. Police issued warnings and six citations to the remaining participants and were asked to move to the sidewalks until the park re-opened. At 6am, the group reconvened back inside the plaza.

We want the St. Louis Police Department to know that we are here for them too. We need allies on every level of the system....

Stay positive. There is lots of love and strength in this movement, and I am truly proud of my brothers and sisters.

  2. What do the citations say?

  3. Cops are people too, they are following orders from their bosses. They are not the top 1%, it's the controllers we take issues with-not the enforcers.

  4. Cop are not people. They are robots. Seriously. They cannot do anything but follow orders. We don't need followers, we need accomplices, and robots are useless.

  5. Did your mama ever tell you that you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar? Same goes for these types of protests. We want the cops on our side. As Kerry said, they are not the enemy. Be respectful as you stay strong.

  6. First, the police in St. Louis have been nothing short of professional from what I have seen and heard. Although, showing up at 5 am when most were sleeping is a somewhat of a jerk move, seeing as how the park's curfew is from 10pm to 6am. Most likely that order came from high above, perhaps even the Mayor's office or higher. Mainly, I'm ticked because I couldn't be there all night to take pictures/video.

  7. I personally dislike the large majority of cops, but it's only because their programming is so efficient. Writing them off will never reach them, and only make it easier for them to justify our arrests. It must be hard to have your job put you in direct opposition to your best interest, (much like the military) and yes, they must take some responsibility for the job THEY chose, but nobody can go back in time, this is what is is. I would bridge this gap by saying, cops ARE part of the 99%, they just don't know it yet.

  8. I look forward to the day that the cops turn and stand with us - please do not dehumanize the police, as you would hate for them to do to you in performing their duties. Police are a necessary part of society, and while abuse of power is shameful from anyone, the VAST MAJORITY approach their jobs ethically and in the public interest. FOCUS, PEOPLE! Fighting with other working-class people, including cops, helps those we're fighting!

  9. Doesn't ANYONE have information on the citations? What were they for? Curfew violation? Are they just a ticket or do they have a summons?

  10. Lmao, are you kidding me?! The police dehumanize people and abuse their power on a daily basis. What dream world do you live in?

  11. The citations are for trespassing on Kiener Plaza after curfew. It is a summons to appear in court. Only 4 were issued. The current legal solution is that because only 4 were issued citations, and not all participants, that would be considered discriminatory and those issued citations may have them thrown out of court for that reason.

  12. This movement needs to call a convention and put forth a list of constitutional amendments to root out the corruption in our society. I say this because some wealthy interests have been buying the government for years now. Amendments could start with:
    Election Reform
    No subsidy of private enterprise.
Level taxation...no loopholes purchased by special interests
